Job Description

Sustainability Certification Auditor This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sustainability Certification Auditor in Italy. This role plays a key part in ensuring the integrity, transparency, and credibility of one of the world's leading sustainability certification systems. You will be responsible for conducting independent assessments of certified organizations and certification bodies across complex global supply chains. Working both on-site and remotely, you will verify compliance with sustainability, traceability, and greenhouse gas reduction standards. The position requires strong analytical capabilities, a deep understanding of certification frameworks, and the ability to evaluate environmental and social impacts across diverse industries. You will engage with stakeholders across Europe and North America, contributing directly to improving sustainability practices in global markets. This is a highly independent role where precision, objectivity, and integrity are essential.
Accountabilities:
Conduct on-site and remote integrity assessments of certified companies and certification bodies in coordination with central teams Plan, prepare, and organize audit schedules and assessment activities across multiple regions and sectors Evaluate compliance with sustainability standards, including traceability systems, mass balances, and greenhouse gas reduction criteria Review complex supply chains covering waste, residues, agricultural feedstocks, processing facilities, and trading entities Assess social compliance aspects, including human rights, labor conditions, and environmental protection practices Prepare detailed integrity assessment reports and documentation of findings Conduct witness audits and evaluate auditor performance against established certification standards Contribute to the continuous improvement of certification systems and integrity programs
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience in certification, auditing, or quality management (audit experience is mandatory) University degree in environmental sciences, chemistry, bioenergy, engineering, or a related field Strong background in auditing traceability systems, mass balance, sustainability criteria, or greenhouse gas accounting Experience with waste/residue-based biofuel or agricultural supply chains is highly valued Knowledge of chemical industry processes or circular economy principles is an advantage Strong understanding of human rights frameworks and social compliance standards (e.g., ILO, UN Global Compact) High level of independence and strict adherence to conflict-of-interest requirements Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills Strong command of English; additional languages are an advantage Proficiency in MS Office tools and digital audit systems for remote assessments Willingness to travel extensively within
