5-7+ years of Public Accounting experienceSr. Audit ManagerPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Sr. Audit Manager to lead high-quality audit engagements, ensure compliance with professional standards, and build strong client relationships. The role requires a seasoned public accounting professional who will manage engagement teams, oversee technical deliverables, and contribute to business development and practice quality. A CPA credential and prior Audit Manager experience in public accounting are strongly preferred.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead planning, scoping and execution of external financial statement audits for public and private clients, ensuring work is completed on schedule and within budget.
Perform risk assessments and design audit strategies to address significant financial reporting and internal control risks.
Review and supervise preparation of audit workpapers, financial statements, and management communications to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards (GAAP, GAAS, PCAOB, or IFRS as applicable).Manage day-to-day engagement activities, including staffing, task delegation, progress monitoring and quality control reviews.
Coach, mentor and develop audit staff and managers, providing performance feedback, training and career development guidance.
Serve as the primary client contact on engagements, building trusted relationships, addressing client concerns, and communicating audit findings and recommendations effectively.
Coordinate with other service lines (tax, advisory, IT) and, when necessary, with regulators or third-party specialists to resolve complex accounting or control issues.
Drive engagement profitability by managing budgets, billing, and resource utilization; identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
Support practice growth through proposal development, client presentations, and participation in business development activities.
Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of accounting and auditing standards, industry trends, and firm policies; implement best practices to enhance audit quality.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; advanced degree or additional certifications a plus.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required or strongly preferred; active license or ability to obtain licensure in relevant jurisdictions.8+ years of progressive public accounting audit experience, including prior experience as an Audit Manager or Senior Manager leading multiple engagements.
Proven knowledge of US GAAP, GAAS and PCAOB standards; familiarity with IFRS and specialized industry guidance is a plus.
Demonstrated experience supervising and developing audit teams, with strong coaching and performance management skills.
Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills; ability to present complex issues clearly to senior management and audit committees.
Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation across concurrent engagements.
Proficiency with audit and data analytics tools (for example CaseWare, TeamMate, ACL/IDEA, Excel, or firm-specific platforms).High professional integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to audit quality and client service.
Willingness to travel as required and manage client relationship demands; ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
