Job Description:
•Must have audit experience in the construction industry with regional or big 4 audit firms•A well-established construction organization in the West Houston area is seeking an Audit Manager/Operations Assistant Controller with a strong audit background in the construction industry. This role partners closely with Project Management and Finance/Accounting to standardize and streamline the monthly close process, improve job cost reporting, and enhance financial controls across projects. The ideal candidate brings experience from a regional or Big 4 audit firm, a strong understanding of construction accounting, and a passion for process improvement and cross-functional collaboration. Key Responsibilities Develop and manage comprehensive financial reporting for construction projects in compliance with GAAP Monitor and analyze project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance to support profitability Partner with Project Managers on job setup, projections, accruals, budget summaries, internal project reviews, and contractual compliance Prepare schedules of contracts and job cost analysis Establish, document, and implement standardized accounting policies and procedures, including training initiatives Support project audits and project close-outs Prepare contractor financial statements, billings, and revenue recognition adjustments Prepare and review job cost and revenue adjustments Qualifications & Skills Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Working knowledge of construction systems Strong analytical and reporting capabilities Ability to communicate effectively with technical experts, leadership, and end users Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required) MBA or advanced accounting education (preferred) Audit experience in the construction industry (regional or Big 4 firm required) Commercial construction experience preferred Industry certifications and project management experience are a plus All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
