certification, building code requirements, and performance-based construction practices. We are seeking a motivated Energy Auditor / Rating Field Inspector who enjoys independent fieldwork, technical learning, and working on active residential construction sites. This role offers structured training, certification support, and a clear pathway into the building science and energy verification profession. As part of our field team, you will contribute directly to the performance and compliance of homes across the region while developing valuable technical skills in diagnostics, verification, and documentation. Tasks and Responsibilities You will perform field verification work that supports residential energy modeling, certification programs, and construction quality alignment. You will visit active job sites, collect performance data, and communicate with builders and trade partners. Your work ensures homes meet required efficiency standards before construction completion. Each inspection helps improve long-term comfort, durability, and compliance for future homeowners.
Key responsibilities include:
Perform field inspections on new residential construction projects at multiple build stages Conduct blower door testing and duct leakage testing using diagnostic equipment Verify insulation installation and air-barrier alignment with energy code standards Document HVAC installation conditions and collect data for HERS rating support Upload clear inspection notes and photo documentation into reporting systems Required Skills and Qualifications This position is designed as an entry pathway into the building performance industry and includes structured training toward certification. We are looking for someone who values accuracy, independence, and professional communication in field environments. Candidates should be comfortable working on construction sites and managing schedules across multiple locations.
Minimum qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to lift and carry testing equipment up to approximately 50 lbs Comfort working in attics, crawlspaces, on ladders, and in unfinished homes Ability to work independently with strong organizational habits. Preferred, but not required: Experience in construction, HVAC, or inspection work Familiarity with blower door or duct testing equipment Exposure to energy codes, ENERGY STAR, or RESNET programs Trade school or technical training background Training toward industry certifications such as
RESNET HERS
