Job description About US THIScar is a large, pre-owned auto retailer, with a VERY strong focus on consumer acquisition. As a result, we have an extensive vehicle buying operation that is continually growing. We currently have eight dedicated buying centers around Houston and an extensive operation to support them with the buying effort. We buy cars around the United States and have more buying centers opening in 2H of 2026. We are looking for the best of the best automotive buyers Houston has to offer. Position Overview This role combines automotive knowledge, customer service, negotiation, and market analysis to ensure accurate appraisals and profitable inventory acquisition. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and knowledgeable about current automotive market trends. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough inspections and appraisals of customer vehicles Evaluate vehicle condition, history reports, mileage, and market demand Utilize pricing tools and market data to determine competitive purchase offers Negotiate vehicle purchases with customers in a professional and transparent manner Accurately document vehicle condition and appraisal findings Coordinate with reconditioning and inventory teams regarding purchased vehicles Monitor auction trends and used vehicle market conditions Ensure compliance with company policies and state regulations Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the appraisal and buying process Meet acquisition and performance goals set by management This is NOT a UCM job , it is for an elite auto buyer/closer for our newest location. The ideal candidate will have great time management skills, extensive experience in automotive appraising/buying, be a well above average closer and have a proven, verifiable record of success. This person will be held accountable buy rates, margins and more. This is a role for a strong producer that thrives on competition, Qualifications and Experience
- 5 + years automotive experience in vehicle purchasing with a proven track record - REQUIRED High school diploma or GED required Previous automotive appraisal and purchasing experience mandatory Strong understanding of vehicle makes, models, trims, and market values Excellent communication and negotiation skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proficiency with computer systems and appraisal software Valid driver's license with clean driving record
