The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish is recruiting for an Accounting Technician 3 located in Juneau!
What you will be doing:
Under general supervision, this position serves as a lead-level technician supporting Headquarters Accountant 4 in managing all aspects of the Division of Sport Fish's buying and selling of Reimbursable Services Agreements (RSAs) and administering Boating and Non-Boating Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) funded by Sport Fish Restoration (SFR). This position carries division wide responsibilities related to accounting, procurement/purchasing, and inventory management. The incumbent assists with managing the division's diverse funding sources, including reviewing grant applications, amendments, cooperative agreements, contracts, and memorandums of understanding for accuracy and completeness. The position tracks match requirements, monitors and analyzes grant expenditures, identifies discrepancies, and develops solutions to ensure compliance and accuracy. This position serves as the division's subject matter expert and primary contact for the following areas: Management of division Reimbursable Services Agreements Administration of Capital Appropriations and Multi Year Grants Establishing and revising all Sport Fish capital budget structures in IRIS Subject matter expert and divisional trainer for travel, relocations, and reimbursable travel Research and resolution of payroll budget errors Assistance with procurement, purchasing, and inventory activities Training and onboarding of staff in new accounting systems, procurement rules, travel procedures, reimbursement processes, budget audits and reconciliation, and office technology Support with clearing State Purchasing Card transactions Other miscellaneous duties may be assigned as needed. Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level. Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting. Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting. An associate's degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.
