Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic finance team as an Accounts Payable Specialist and play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of our company's financial transactions. In this energetic role, you will manage the full cycle of accounts payable processes, utilize leading accounting software, and uphold compliance with financial standards such as GAAP and SOX. Your expertise will help streamline payment workflows, support vendor relationships, and contribute to the overall financial health of our organization. Duties Process and review all incoming invoices using accounting software to ensure timely payments. Perform account reconciliations and verify accuracy of debits & credits in the general ledger. Manage vendor setup, maintenance, and payments through systems like Paychex, ADP, Ceridian, or Sage while ensuring compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements. Prepare journal entries related to accounts payable activities and assist with month-end closing procedures. Conduct thorough analysis of accounts payable aging reports and resolve discrepancies efficiently. Support benefits administration and payroll management tasks as needed, utilizing HRIS systems like UltiPro or Kronos. Maintain meticulous records of all transactions, including invoice processing logs, audit documentation, and vendor correspondence for audit readiness. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including human resources and accounting to ensure seamless data entry and accurate financial reporting. Qualifications Proven experience in accounts payable functions within a corporate or governmental setting; familiarity with public accounting is a plus. Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX compliance standards, and technical accounting concepts. Proficiency in accounting software such as Workday, QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms; experience with data entry tools like 10 key typing is essential. Ability to perform account reconciliation accurately and efficiently; experience with general ledger reconciliation and journal entries required. Excellent analysis skills combined with attention to detail for handling complex transactions involving debits & credits. Familiarity with non-profit or governmental accounting practices is advantageous. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; effective communication skills are essential for collaboration across teams.
