Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team in Downey, California. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a key role in managing financial transactions, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and assisting with payroll and reporting tasks in a fast-paced, structured environment. Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable, payroll, and other financial transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Review and reconcile invoices, ensuring proper coding and financial data integrity.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to accounting, payroll, and budget records.
- Monitor and track budgets, providing timely financial reports to support operations.
- Maintain organized and accurate records within accounting systems.
- Assist in internal audits and ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with teams to improve accounting workflows and maintain compliance.
- Provide support for payroll processing and ensure timely completion.
- Generate reports and summaries to aid in financial decision-making processes. Requirements
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of clerical accounting experience, preferably in a government agency or educational institution.
- Familiarity with public sector or school district accounting is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems, with the ability to manage data effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial tasks.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills to handle multiple priorities.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data effectively.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
