ACCOUNTING CLERK POSITION SUMMARY
To support the church by providing accounting support for data input of receipts and disbursements, and account reconciliation. This includes both verbal and written communication, as well as database management.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting Process donor contributions with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail Process accounts payable, ensuring appropriate support and approval Preparation of checks for mailing and filing of paid bills Process credit card transactions, ensuring receipts agree and comply with policy Enter financial data into the accounting software or Excel spreadsheets Maintain accurate and organized financial transaction records Assist with quarterly donor contribution statements Prepare journal entries Prepare account reconciliations Assist financial staff with report preparation as needed Other Ensure strict confidentiality in all job aspects. Carry out other departmental and church-related duties and responsibilities as requested.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and devotion to God. Commitment to the church's mission: To be and make disciples of Jesus. Commitment to the church's beliefs outlined on the church's website and related documents. Commitment to attend services at La Cañada Presbyterian Church is preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The ability to fully embrace the mission, vision, and values of LCPC. Familiarity with, or a willingness to learn about, the church's ministries. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and the ability to learn additional software. High degree of accuracy in data input and ability to do data entry quickly Experience with church management software, such as Planning Center or ShelbyNext, is preferred. Must have several years of experience in a similar role or position. Good oral and written communication skills, along with good relational abilities with church congregants, visitors, vendors, and staff members. Demonstrates the ability to work efficiently, effectively, and independently, while also collaborating with teams in a positive and solution-oriented manner. Physical Expectations Must be capable of walking, climbing stairs, reaching, bending, or stretching.
