Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Accounting and Special Projects Assistant supports the department manager with projects such as 990 tax report preparation, bookkeeping projects, specialized audits (SFP and fraud), data analysis, and report generation.
Job Responsibilities may include:
1. Support the Data and Special Projects department. 2. Assist with the preparation of Form 990 tax returns and other related tax filings for clients. 3. Prepares School Facilities Program (SFP) audit reports for review. 4. Works with Excel to generate analytic and audit samples to support the audit team. 5. Perform data entry and maintain accurate financial records with firm software. 6. Assists with managing projects and deadlines within the department. 7. Communicate with internal team members and clients to gather information. 8. Ensures documentation is complete. 9. Help create reports as needed for management and collaboration teams as requested. 10. Perform other job duties as assigned.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
1. Advanced knowledge of Excel with certification helpful. Must know or be familiar with creating pivot tables, SUMIF, XLOOKUP formulas. 2. Entry-level knowledge and coursework background in accounting, business, or related field. 3. At least one year of work experience in accounting, or tax preparation or auditing. Knowledge of non-profit returns would be helpful. 4. Solid understanding of reporting and basic accounting principles. 5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 6. Excellent communication skills. 7. Ability to work independently and complete work within deadline periods. 8. Understanding of project management.
Physical Requirements of Job:
1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 2. May need to lift up to 15 pounds at a time. Compensation range - DOE $22.00 - 25.00/hour with benefits.
