This is a hands-on role for an experienced professional - with 3-5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping experience - who is comfortable managing the complete accounting cycle across two companies. Company Overview For more than 20 years, Arroyo Instruments has provided precision laser and thermal control systems that are used throughout the photonics industry in research, academic, and commercial applications. Arroyo Instruments' products have been used to test Mars rovers, verify lasers for satellite communications, and used by major research universities and national laboratories around the world. The Full Charge Bookkeeper will manage the complete accounting cycle across two companies, taking ownership of financial reporting, compliance, payroll, and day-to-day bookkeeping operations. Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Financial Reporting Prepare financial statements, oversee journal entries, manage company cross-billing, and prepare year-end financials for the accounting firm.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable Manage day-to-day AP/AR operations, including processing payables and receivables, handling tax and partial tax exemption transactions, and maintaining customer Seller's Permits and Resale Certificates.
- Tax & Regulatory Compliance Submit monthly CDTFA payments, track website taxes in coordination with CDTFA, prepare and file the quarterly CDTFA Report, file the annual Business Property Tax Report, and respond to unemployment benefit audits as needed.
- Payroll & Benefits Administration Coordinate bi-weekly payroll processing with an outside payroll service, manage the company Simple IRA plan, and administer employee health insurance.
- Banking & Cash Management Prepare weekly bank deposits, perform monthly bank account and credit card reconciliations, and post credit card payments.
- Insurance Administration Administer annual Workers' Compensation and Liability Insurance policies, manage insurance audits, and handle Workers' Compensation claims as needed.
- Customer Invoicing - Oversee customer invoicing and coordinate with internal staff to ensure accuracy and timely billing.
- Inventory & Asset Management Support inventory control and maintain capital equipment asset tracking and tagging.
- Projects - Perform other duties and special projects as assigned Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
- 3-5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping experience, preferably in a small to mid-size manufacturing or product-based company
- Demonstrated proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Simply Accounting (SAGE) a plus.
- Experience preparing financial statements, sales tax returns, and payroll
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team This is a part-time, hourly position, and is an on-site role.
Pay:
