Paid time off, Professional Development About Us The Sally J. Pimentel Deaf & Hard of Hearing Center (DHHC) is a mission-driven, community-centered nonprofit dedicated to making a difference in the lives of deaf and hard of hearing individuals and their families. We are a close-knit team that values both professionalism and a positive working environment. We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented bookkeeper who takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records and enjoys contributing to a collaborative, supportive workplace. The Role As our Part-Time Full Charge Bookkeeper, you'll own the day-to-day financial operations of the organization — from accounts payable and receivable through monthly close, reconciliations, grant reporting, and support of fundraising events. This role works in close partnership with the Executive Director as a team to keep the organization financially healthy and running smoothly. It's a great fit for an experienced bookkeeper with nonprofit know-how who is detail-oriented, self-directed, and a true team player. Being a positive, friendly presence in the office is a must. Duties & Responsibilities Manage all aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, bill processing, vendor payments, employee reimbursements, collections, and general ledger entries. Record donations, grants, and fundraising revenue with proper coding by fund, program, and grant. Make bank deposits in person, ensuring all cash, checks, and event proceeds are deposited promptly and accurately. Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations, and maintain the chart of accounts. Process payroll and related filings (1099s, payroll taxes, sales tax, and other state and federal reports). Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for grant reporting in accordance with funder requirements. Set up and manage the financial side of fundraising events, including the annual gala — coordinate payment terminals (GoDaddy, Square, or similar), process event transactions, and reconcile event revenue (ticket sales, sponsorships, auction proceeds, donations). Prepare monthly financial statements, budget-to-actual reports, and other reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors. Support the annual budgeting process and prepare documentation for the annual audit or financial review. Maintain organized financial records in compliance with nonprofit best practices. Reconcile donor records with accounting records in coordination with the Development team. Work in close partnership with the Executive Director as a team to support the financial health of the organization. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Minimum Qualifications Must be knowledgeable in QuickBooks Online — required. Minimum 3 years of full-charge bookkeeping experience; nonprofit experience strongly preferred. Working knowledge of nonprofit accounting and GAAP principles, including fund accounting, restricted vs. unrestricted revenue, and grant tracking. Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Experience processing payroll and related filings. Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and clear written and verbal communication. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work independently with minimal supervision. Professional, respectful communication style. This role works closely with the Executive Director and staff, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach is essential. Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted. Benefits Prorated paid vacation, sick, and holiday time. Professional development opportunities. Flexible part-time schedule. A supportive, friendly team and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in your community. Additional Information This is a part-time, non-exempt position scheduled for 20 hours per week, with flexible weekday hours to be agreed upon with the Executive Director.
