Job Description

About the Supervisor of Elections Office The Supervisor of Elections Office is responsible for conducting elections, registering votes, and maintaining voter records. The office administers all federal, state, county, municipal and special district elections in Palm Beach County in accordance with the Florida Election Code, the federal Help America Vote Act, the National Voting Rights Act, the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and federal voting rights laws. Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, qualifying county candidates for office; designating precinct boundaries, appointing, and instructing election boards, tabulating voted ballots and publishing results, providing statistics and results election analysis. Job Summary The primary responsibility of the Accounting Specialist is to support the accounting activities in the Business Affairs department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to accounts payable, purchasing, journal entries, accurate data entry, and aspects of payroll. Responsibilities include Reviewing invoices, entering invoices to QuickBooks Review and close purchase orders Assist with audit as needed Review and reconcile payroll for poll workers and additional workers Assist with W9 requests and filing Prepare and record journal entries as assigned Petty cash reconciliation Assist departments with election activities as needed Reconcile & code agency staff time sheets and invoices Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred in accounting or related field. Strong computer and data entry skills; Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Professional level written and oral communication skills Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills Effective analytical and problem-solving skills Must have a valid Florida driver's license and be able to drive county vehicles if needed QuickBooks experience is preferred Willingness to improve skills and election knowledge as it pertains to the role
