Job Description

Floyd County is looking for a Part-Time Accounting Clerk!
JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this classification is to perform a variety of clerical work functions associated with processing accounts receivables for water utilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following functions are typically associated with this position. The omission of specific statements does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical extension of this role. Other duties may be required and assigned. Processes accounts receivable for water utilities, including receiving payments, posting transactions, balancing receipts, and preparing bank deposits in accordance with established procedures and timelines. Manages customer utility accounts by establishing, closing, and transferring services while updating account details, processing adjustments, and maintaining accurate records in the system database. Provides customer service in person and by phone, addressing inquiries, resolving routine issues, and guiding customers on services, fees, and procedures. Prepares and processes work orders for utility services such as new connections, disconnections, transfers, meter checks, installations, and repairs. Monitors and updates records for accounts disconnected due to non-payment, coordinates reconnections, and processes applicable fees. Assists with utility billing by reviewing meter readings, verifying charges, preparing bills for distribution, and maintaining account files. Maintains supply inventory, initiates procurement requests, supports data entry and reporting functions, and operates office software and equipment to ensure accurate documentation and workflow efficiency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent, and One (1) year of experience in bookkeeping, accounts receivable, or related field, or Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
