Job Description
Description We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support daily financial operations for a logistics organization. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with both payables and receivables while keeping records accurate and up to date. The person in this role will help maintain billing activity, reconcile accounts, and use accounting systems and spreadsheets to support efficient reporting and transaction processing.
Responsibilities:
- Process vendor invoices, assign the proper accounting codes, and prepare items for timely payment.
- Maintain customer invoicing and receivable records, follow up on outstanding balances, and help keep cash flow information current.
- Reconcile bank activity and internal account records to identify discrepancies and ensure financial accuracy.
- Enter and update accounting data in QuickBooks while preserving complete and organized documentation.
- Prepare billing support, review transaction details, and resolve routine issues related to charges or payments.
- Use Microsoft Excel to track financial activity, build formulas, and assist with report preparation.
- Verify financial entries for completeness and accuracy before posting them to the appropriate accounts.
- Collaborate with internal team members to support day-to-day accounting tasks and meet reporting deadlines. Requirements
- Experience handling accounts payable and accounts receivable activities in a business environment.
- Working knowledge of bank reconciliations and general transaction matching processes.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks for routine accounting and record maintenance.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to use formulas for tracking and analysis.
- Ability to code invoices accurately and manage billing-related documentation.
- High attention to detail with the ability to organize financial data and spot inconsistencies.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work reliably in a deadline-driven setting.
