Position Summary:
The Automotive Dealership Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing and supporting the financial operations of the dealership. This role ensures accurate accounting records, compliance with company policies, and timely processing of financial transactions specific to automotive sales, deposits, CIT and deal auditing.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and post daily cash receipts, deposits, and dealership transactions Reconcile bank statements, schedules, and general ledger accounts Handle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions Process vehicle deals, including verifying documentation and funding Maintain and reconcile floor plan schedules Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures Prepare financial reports and assist management with budget tracking Ensure compliance with dealership policies and accounting standards Work closely with sales, service, and finance departments Support audits and provide requested documentation
Required Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred) 2+ years of accounting experience (automotive dealership experience strongly preferred) Knowledge of dealership management systems (DealerTrack, CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds) Strong understanding of general accounting principles Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software High level of accuracy and attention to detail Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Skills:
Experience with dealership floor plan reconciliation Familiarity with title processing and DMV documentation Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and problem-solving skills
