fort wayne, indiana Posted 9 days ago Closes 7/7/2026 Job details Summary Spherion $20.00 - $24.00 per hour Temporary 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Industry accounting & auditing (Business and Financial Operations Occupations) Reference number S_175561 Responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the company. This includes maintaining accurate financial records, managing payroll, and ensuring that all service billing is processed correctly. This role often serves as the "backbone" of the office, coordinating between service technicians and ownership to ensure financial health.
Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable (A/R): Process daily service invoices, manage customer billing, and follow up on outstanding payments or collections. Accounts Payable (A/P): Manage vendor relationships, verify invoices from HVAC/plumbing parts suppliers, and ensure timely payment to maintain credit standing.
Payroll Processing:
Manage weekly or bi-weekly payroll for office staff and field technicians, including the calculation of commissions or performance bonuses common in the HVAC industry.
Bank Reconciliation:
Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts daily to ensure all service calls and part purchases are accounted for.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly profit and loss (P&L) statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for management review. ...
Sales Tax & Compliance:
Ensure accurate filing of state sales taxes and maintain compliance with local and state business regulations.
Service Software Integration:
Utilize industry-specific software (such as ServiceTitan or FieldEdge) alongside QuickBooks to track job costs and technician productivity.

8:00 AM - 5:00
PM Skills:
Industry Experience:
Previous experience working in a skilled trades office (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, or Construction).
Service Software Knowledge:
Familiarity with service management software such as ServiceTitan, FieldEdge, or Housecall Pro.
Job Costing Analysis:
Advanced ability to analyze "cost-to-complete" reports to help identify areas for profit improvement. Associate?s
Degree:
A degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is highly preferred.
Notary Public:
Being a commissioned Notary is a plus for handling official documentation.

QuickBooks Expertise:
3+ years of experience with QuickBooks Desktop or Online is essential.
Accounting Foundation:
Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), including debits/credits and financial statement preparation.
Excel Proficiency:
Ability to use spreadsheets for data analysis, tracking, and reporting.
Exceptional Organization:
Must be able to manage multiple high-priority tasks in a busy service-office environment.
