Job Description

About the Role Top Talent LLC is recruiting on behalf of a well-established industrial services company in Seymour, IN. Our client needs an experienced Accounting Clerk who can step in immediately and handle the full day-to-day accounting function without a ramp-up period. This is a plug-and-play role, not a training opportunity. The right candidate has broad accounting experience in a construction or industrial setting, knows progress billing, and can own their workload from day one. The Accounting Clerk will report directly to the Controller and partner closely with the internal accounting team to keep day-to-day financial operations moving during a period of elevated workload. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-directed, and fully comfortable in QuickBooks Desktop across AR, AP, and general accounting tasks. Key Responsibilities Prepare and process progress billings including AIA-style pay applications (G702/G703 or equivalent), schedule of values updates, and retainage tracking Manage accounts receivable: invoicing, cash application, AR aging, and collections follow-up Process accounts payable: vendor invoice entry, coding, approvals routing, and payment processing Enter daily transactions into QuickBooks Desktop with accuracy and consistency Reconcile customer and vendor accounts and resolve billing discrepancies Track lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and compliance documents tied to customer billings Support month-end close: journal entries, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliations Pull standard QuickBooks reports for the Controller and management team as requested Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and general bookkeeping tasks as needed Communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, vendors, and internal team members Required Qualifications 3 or more years of hands-on accounting experience, with direct exposure to construction or industrial services accounting Demonstrated experience preparing AIA-style billings (G702/G703) or equivalent progress billings Full-cycle AR and AP experience (not just one side) Working proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop (not just QuickBooks Online) Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic formulas) Ability to step in and work independently from day one with minimal training Reliable onsite attendance in Seymour, IN Available to start within 2 weeks Preferred Qualifications Experience in steel fabrication, structural steel, mechanical, or specialty trades Familiarity with retainage, schedule of values, and lien waiver processes Exposure to construction ERP systems (Vista, Sage 100 Contractor, Foundation, Procore, etc.) Month-end close experience in a small to mid-size accounting department Prior experience in a temp or contract role Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Why This Role Immediate start for the right candidate Broad scope across AR, AP, progress billing, and general accounting Work directly with a Controller and experienced accounting team at a growing industrial services company Potential for extension or permanent placement based on fit and business needs How to Apply Submit your resume through Top Talent LLC.
