The Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Specialist to join our administrative team. This role plays a key part in supporting the financial operations of the facility, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity in all accounting processes. Minimum Qualifications One year of experience or training in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, or financial operations or computations.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. Job Specification The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.
Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and accounting files in accordance with state and departmental policies. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring proper documentation and timely payment. Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and internal financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies. Prepare, review, and submit financial reports, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation for audits and internal reviews. Assist with budget preparation, monitoring expenditures, and tracking allocations for various programs and operational needs. Establish and maintain new inmate banking accounts. Make deposits to inmate accounts. Transfer money to outside savings accounts. Process discharge payouts and close inmate accounts for inmates who are releasing. This position will work independently on inmate financial accounts but will also communicate with the Inmate Banking Supervisor and others working on a common goal.

Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted. An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
