Jobs › Westborough, MA › Accounts Receivable Clerk Robert Half Accounts Receivable Clerk Westborough, MA Apply Description We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to support a manufacturing organization in Westborough, Massachusetts. This Contract position is ideal for someone who brings strong accuracy, follow-through, and confidence working with customer payments and receivable records. The person in this role will help keep billing and cash activity current while partnering with internal teams to resolve account questions and support additional finance-related assignments.
Responsibilities:
- Record incoming customer payments accurately and post transactions to the appropriate accounts in a timely manner.
- Apply cash receipts to open invoices, research discrepancies, and ensure account balances reflect current activity.
- Follow up with commercial customers regarding outstanding balances and work to secure prompt payment.
- Prepare and manage billing-related tasks, including reviewing invoice details for completeness and correctness.
- Investigate payment variances, short pays, and unapplied cash by coordinating with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain organized accounts receivable documentation and update records to support reporting and audit readiness.
- Assist with special projects within the accounting function, including tasks tied to process or system-related updates when needed. Requirements
- Experience working in accounts receivable, including payment posting and account reconciliation.
- Background handling commercial collections in a detail-oriented and customer-focused manner.
- Hands-on knowledge of cash application processes and resolving unapplied or mismatched payments.
- Familiarity with billing activities and reviewing invoices for accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customers and internal teams.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
