Job Description

The National Federation of the Blind Fiscal Services department supports the President and organization by performing administrative functions, including accounting. Our accounting team is fast-paced and efficient at multi-tasking. The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for supporting the accounting department by ensuring timely and accurate billing, collections, and cash application. This role maintains customer accounts, processes payments, resolves discrepancies, and assists with month‑end closing activities while providing excellent internal and external customer service. Work is performed by applying knowledge of accounting practices while using Sage Intacct, Adobe Pro, and Microsoft Excel. The Accounts Receivable Clerk is expected to work as part of a team, evaluate and manage priorities, and have a strong work ethic. Responsibilities Perform work in Sage Intacct for multiple entities. Prepare, issue, and record invoices in accordance with organizational policies. Apply cash receipts (ACH, wire transfers, checks, credit cards) accurately and timely. Learn chart of accounts and coding schemes to help recognize issues. Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances. Communicate with customers and internal departments to resolve billing discrepancies. Scan check deposits and prepare deposit tickets for cash receipts to be taken to the bank. Organize and maintain electronic and paper filing systems. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year‑end closing activities related to accounts receivable. Maintain the full cycle of a recurring donation program from setting up donors through managing monthly reporting. Email statements and outstanding receivables reports monthly. Support and provide reports for annual audit. Support the accounting manager, department executive director, and the President. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and organizational policies. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices. Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills. Knowledge of Sage Intacct, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or other commercial cloud-based financial software is a plus. Willing to work weekends and evenings when necessary. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. One to three years of accounts receivable or general accounting experience. Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization is preferred. Compensation The pay range for this position is 22 to 23 dollars per hour.
