Bookkeeper
Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of a small construction company in Maryland. This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable managing day-to-day accounting tasks, maintaining accurate records, and working closely with leadership to keep financial processes organized. The right candidate brings strong QuickBooks Desktop experience, a solid understanding of construction payroll practices, and a clear, approachable communication style.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records for the company using QuickBooks Desktop, ensuring transactions are entered and categorized correctly.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice tracking, payment posting, and vendor coordination.
- Prepare payroll with attention to wage scales and construction-related pay requirements.
- Complete state and local certified payroll reporting in accordance with applicable regulations and deadlines.
- Reconcile bank accounts and review financial data regularly to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Organize bookkeeping documentation and support efficient record retention for ongoing business operations.
- Work directly with company leadership to provide timely financial information and assist with routine accounting needs. - Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop in a bookkeeping or accounting environment.
- Experience handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Knowledge of payroll processing, including wage scale administration.
- Familiarity with state and local certified payroll requirements, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple financial tasks accurately.
- Detail-oriented and friendly communication skills when working with internal teams and external contacts.
- Bilingual communication skills are preferred.
- Prior bookkeeping experience in a small construction company or similar business setting is preferred.
