Under the direction of the Finance Director/Treasurer, this position is responsible for payroll processing, accounts payable, cash management, and general ledger support, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal controls. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable & Vendor Management Process invoices, claims, credit card transactions, and ACH payments Maintain vendor records, including W-9s and insurance documentation Prepare claims and expenditure reports for City Council Manage purchase orders and related documentation Payroll Administration Process and maintain bi-weekly payroll Calculate wages, deductions, and employer liabilities Maintain employee payroll records and respond to inquiries Prepare payroll reports and annual W-2 forms General Ledger & Accounting Prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts Assist with audit preparation and year-end reporting Support annual budget preparation Treasury & Cash Management Perform daily cash balancing and bank reconciliations Process receipts, tax collections, and utility payments Maintain internal controls over cash handling Administrative & Public Service Support Provide assistance to Finance and Utility Billing operations Respond to public inquiries and support various City services Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required Associate degree in accounting or related coursework preferred Minimum of three (3) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience Municipal finance experience preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of accounting principles and payroll processes Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proficiency with computer systems and financial software Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment Strong communication and customer service skills Working Conditions Office environment with frequent public interaction Periodic extended hours during payroll cycles, audits, and fiscal year-end Compensation & Benefits Compensation and benefits are established under the
