Job Description

This position is responsible for the processing of general ledger transactions, account reconciliations, and other office functions, in cooperation with other Finance and Business Office personnel. This is a full-time, 12 month, salaried, FLSA non-exempt position covered by social security and the Public Education Employee Retirement System of Missouri (PEERS). The position requires bookkeeping, organization, communication, and computer skills as well as attention to detail. Prior bookkeeping experience and an Associate's degree are preferred. This position also requires the ability to be available to work short-notice overtime as needed and to travel to conferences or training sessions that could require an over-night stay.
The Bookkeeper shall:
Facilitate and coordinate the monthly general ledger closing process. Includes the preparation and data entry of standard, miscellaneous, and special journal entries; Maintain a perpetual check register for MACC's main general disbursement bank account. Includes recording and tracking of both disbursements and deposits from a variety of sources, along with bank transfers when necessary; Independently investigate and resolve cash discrepancies; Review bank account transactions on a daily basis to detect non-routine deposit and disbursement information relative to MACC's main disbursement account balance; Periodically advise the Vice President for Finance as to the cash position of the college when excesses or shortages are detected; Reconcile MACC bank statements in a timely manner; Prepare and distribute internal and external quarterly billing invoices; Conduct special account analysis when directed; Prepare and submit the monthly State of Missouri Sales/Use Tax Report; Track and void disbursements when necessary. Assist in maintaining an up-to-date operations manual; Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting Services or Vice President for Finance.
