hbristol@burke.k12.nc.us Job Description 12-Month Position 8 Hours Per Day Middle School Reports To Principal and/or School Finance Officer Nature of Work An employee in this position performs responsible bookkeeping, accounting, and financial record-keeping duties for a middle school. The employee maintains accurate financial records, processes financial transactions, prepares reports, manages school funds, and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Financial Management Maintain accurate accounting records for all school funds and accounts. Process deposits, receipts, disbursements, purchase orders, invoices, and reimbursements. Reconcile bank statements and financial records. Monitor account balances and expenditures. Prepare required financial reports. Assist with budget development and monitoring. Accounts Payable and Receivable Process vendor invoices and payments. Maintain purchase orders and payment documentation. Collect and record student fees and school-generated funds. Prepare deposits and maintain supporting documentation. School Activity Funds Manage student activity accounts and club funds. Ensure compliance with district policies and procedures. Assist staff with financial procedures and reporting. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles. Ability to maintain accurate financial records and prepare reports. Proficiency in accounting software, spreadsheets, and office technology. Strong organizational and mathematical skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field preferred. Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial record management preferred.
