Job Description

Detail-oriented and highly organized payroll & accounts payable administration to join the accounting team for a union electrical contracting company. This position is responsible for processing certified payroll reporting, union compliance reporting, prevailing wage documentation, and accounts payable data entry. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of construction accounting practices, union labor requirements, and payroll compliance regulations within the electrical contracting industry. Key Responsibilities Payroll Administration Process weekly payroll for union and non-union employees accurately Maintain employee payroll records, deductions, garnishments, and direct deposits Verify timecards, job cost coding, overtime calculations, and prevailing wage classifications Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, union wage rates, and fringe benefit requirements Coordinate payroll tax filings and respond to payroll-related inquiries Certified Payroll & Compliance Reporting Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws Maintain compliance documentation for public works and government-funded projects Track apprenticeship ratios, labor classifications, and prevailing wage requirements Prepare union reports and remit union dues, benefit contributions, and related payments Assist with audits related to payroll, prevailing wage, workers' compensation, and union compliance Monitor changes in labor laws, prevailing wage requirements, and compliance regulations Accounts Payable Enter vendor invoices accurately into the accounting system Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation Maintain subcontractor compliance documents including W-9s, certificates of insurance, and lien waivers Process check runs and electronic payments in accordance with company procedures Assist with reconciliations of vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner Assist supervisor with month-end closing and account reconciliations Qualifications Minimum 3 years of payroll and/or construction accounting experience preferred Experience with union payroll, prevailing wage, and certified payroll reporting required Knowledge of construction industry accounting practices and labor compliance regulations Proficiency in accounting and payroll software systems Strong Microsoft Excel and data entry skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working for an electrical contractor or union construction company Experience working for a payroll tax company specializing in construction Familiarity with Davis-Bacon Act requirements and public works reporting Knowledge of multi-state payroll processing Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Computerease, Procore, Isolved or similar platforms Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Health and dental insurance options Paid time off and holidays Retirement plan options Professional development opportunities Work Environment This position operates in a professional office environment and requires regular interaction with financial executives, project managers, field personnel, vendors, and compliance agencies. Pay:
$28.00 - $40.00 per hour
