Job Description

About Us Community Broadband Networks (CBN) is a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) dedicated to expanding affordable, high-speed internet to underserved communities. As we grow our broadband construction projects, we are seeking a Construction Bookkeeper to support financial tracking, payroll processing, job costing, and reporting tied to active field operations. As our Construction Bookkeeper, you'll help ensure projects stay financially accurate and compliant by managing payroll entries, vendor payments, subcontractor documentation, and job cost reporting — especially on prevailing wage and grant-funded work. Responsibilities Maintain accurate and organized financial records related to construction projects, subcontractors, and field operations Review subcontractor submissions including certified payroll reports and supporting compliance documentation Enter and reconcile vendor invoices, subcontractor bills, and payments in the accounting system Support job costing by coding labor, materials, and subcontractor costs to the correct projects Track project budgets, produce basic variance summaries, and report cost updates to leadership Assist with project documentation for funding agencies, municipalities, audits, and closeout packages Work closely with operations/project management to ensure accurate reporting and timely cost updates Support general accounting tasks including reconciliations, reporting, AP/AR and data requests as needed Qualifications 3+ years of experience in construction bookkeeping (preferred) or accounting in a project-based environment Strong understanding of job costing, vendor/subcontractor billing, and payroll processing Experience with prevailing wage / certified payroll reporting strongly preferred Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel Highly organized, accurate, and able to manage multiple deadlines Familiarity with grant-funded or government reporting is a plus Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred (but not required with strong experience)
