Job Description
We are looking for a Routing Specialist to support freight-related accounting and transportation coordination activities for a wholesale distribution operation in Avon, Ohio. This position blends financial accuracy with logistics support, helping ensure routing, billing, and carrier arrangements are handled efficiently and in line with business agreements. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with contract terms, transportation costs, and day-to-day administrative systems while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily route scheduling by organizing transportation plans and aligning shipments with available carriers, haulers, and internal drivers. Maintain accurate freight expense records by entering and updating transportation charges tied to customer deliveries and outbound movements. Review and manage carrier pricing agreements to support cost control and ensure freight rates are applied correctly. Examine contract terms and billing structures to confirm charges, service expectations, and rate conditions are properly documented. Prepare and validate billable transportation rates so invoices and internal cost records reflect current agreements. Use Great Plains, FileMaker, and Microsoft Office applications to track data, maintain records, and support reporting needs. Monitor route assignments and pinned routes to help keep delivery activity organized and operationally efficient. Communicate with transportation partners and internal teams to resolve discrepancies involving routing, billing, or freight charges. Working knowledge of freight management processes, including carrier coordination, routing support, and transportation cost tracking. Ability to interpret contracts and participate in carrier or rate negotiations with strong attention to financial detail. Familiarity with billing practices, freight cost application, and maintaining accurate charge records. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort using business systems such as Great Plains and database tools like FileMaker. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple route, billing, and carrier-related tasks simultaneously. Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with vendors, drivers, and internal departments.
