Job DescriptionJob Description Accounts Payable & Student Billing Specialist Location Chesterland / Gates Mills, OH -100% On-Site Position Type Open to Contract-to-Hire or Direct Hire Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable & Student Billing Specialist to support a Business Office team during a period of transition. This role focuses primarily on Accounts Payable and student billing , with limited exposure to receivables. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, excellent customer service abilities, and the patience to work in an academic environment where internal partners include faculty and parents. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable Review, route, and process 150-200 electronic invoices per week using a third-party AP platform Assign appropriate approvers and ensure invoices are accurately coded to general ledger accounts and project codes Track invoices through approval workflows and initiate payments as needed Run limited manual checks when required Support corporate credit card reconciliation activities Student Billing & Limited Receivables Assist with student billing and tuition-related inquiries Handle a small volume of receivables; most payments are processed through third-party platforms Communicate professionally with parents regarding tuition questions, payment timing, and billing issues Internal Collaboration & Support Partner closely with faculty and staff to clarify invoice coding and processing questions Provide patient, clear guidance to non-finance users submitting requests Assist with ad-hoc projects and additional Business Office initiatives as needed Qualifications & Experience Prior Accounts Payable experience required (nonprofit experience preferred but not required) Understanding of 1099 reporting and strong attention to detail Advanced Excel skills required, including pivot tables and data analysis Comfortable working with high invoice volume and large data sets Strong customer service and communication skills, especially when working with parents and faculty Flexible, open to learning new systems and processes Results-focused mindset with an emphasis on accuracy and efficiency Team & Reporting Business Office team of approximately five professionals This role reports directly to the Business Office leadership team Schedule Typical hours: 7:30 AM-3:30 PM or 8:00 AM-4:00 PM Some flexibility available based on workload and project needs Compensation Target salary range: $45,000-$55,000 (based on experience) Equivalent hourly rate for contract-to-hire: approximately $24-$26/hour Additional Requirements BCI and FBI background checks required due to the school environment
