Construction Accounting and Payroll Specialist The Heat Pump Store - 3.0 Portland, OR Job Details Full-time $60,000 - $75,000 a year 2 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Benefits administration Cost management Accounting systems Teamwork ADP Research QuickBooks Time & attendance systems Financial compliance Time management Full Job Description Responsibilities- Manage job cost tracking across multiple construction projects Assist in preparing financial statements and monthly/quarterly closing processes Preparation and Filing of Monthly Workers Comp Reports Ensure compliance with prevailing wage reporting requirements Collaborate with leadership to improve financial systems and reporting accuracy Support internal audits and monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes Collaborating with project managers to ensure data accuracy and job profitability Collect and enter employee time and attendance data for weekly payroll cycles Ensure accuracy in wage calculations, deductions, garnishments, and benefits Update employee payroll records with changes in rates, deductions, and other relevant data Assist with calculation of commissions Assist with preparing payroll reports for internal use and compliance reporting Support the timely processing and payment of payroll liabilities (taxes, benefits, etc.) Research and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely and professional manner Maintain payroll filing systems and uphold confidentiality of employee information Stay informed on federal, state, and local payroll regulations affecting construction payroll Assist with audits and year-end reporting as needed (e.g., W-2, 1099) Assist with Annual Benefits Job requirements 2+ years of accounting experience in construction, plumbing, HVAC, or related trades Experience with payroll platforms (e.g., ADP) and certified payroll reporting Strong knowledge of prevailing wage requirements, and payroll regulations Experience processing prevailing wage payroll Highly Dependable Strong understanding of job costing and project accounting High proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel Exceptional accuracy, problem-solving, and time-management skills Strong communication and collaboration abilities Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude through high-pressure situations.
