Job Description

Accounts Payable Accountant Maxwell Companies has an opportunity for an Experienced Accounts Payable employee to join our team. Maxwell Companies is made up of 4 companies in the construction and trucking industries. We are looking for a person to handle the daily tasks associated with job costing and associated payables and receivable in addition to accounting and clerical tasks to support our project managers, accounting team, and dispatch operators This position reports to Accounting Manager. The ideal team member will have demonstrated success working with a small office team as well as independently. This position is best suited for candidates comfortable with all facets of accounting and consolidation, reconciliations, cash flow analysis, & internal control maintenance. The right individual will be primarily responsible for accounts payable, while assisting with accounts receivables as well as help with various other accounting responsibilities such as bank reconciliations and journal entries
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Accounts Payable Oversee entering of Accounts Payable into software Monitor all outgoing vendor payments General document control and organization Ensure job cost activity is consistent and properly coded Reconcile credit card and review activity and coding appropriateness Prepare and pay monthly sales tax Monitor and Audit Tolls & Fuel Accounts Receivable Post daily deposits and ensure income is posted to correct companies and customers Assist Accounting Manager with various responsibilities, to include monthly income statements and balance sheets, accounts payable and accounts receivable statements, etc Maintenance of Excel spreadsheets and other documents Prepare special reports and analysis as may be requested by management Other office tasks including helping to answer phones, filing, faxing, scanning documentation
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
Accounts Payable Experience Strong Microsoft Excel skill Knowledge of QuickBooks Computerized accounting systems experience Ability to communicate and relate well with others Construction accounting experience a plus, but not required
