Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Performs complex clerical tasks in maintaining financial accounts and records; does related work as required and requested.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Positions in this class involve responsibility for independently performing difficult financial record-keeping tasks. The work is performed, in most instances, under general supervision but employees in this class may make independent decisions in certain individual cases. Supervisors are available for consultation on unusual problems and to give detailed instructions on all new assignments.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Issues fishing, hunting and dog licenses. Issues sportsman firearm permits. Prepares the daily deposit of the commonwealth fees and documents any discrepancies. Inputs all dog license sales from agents into the computer and prepares the monthly update of the lost dog directory for various police agencies. Prepares monthly reports and checks for the various commonwealth agencies. Prepares the entire commonwealth license material for sale to the general public. Prepares orders for supplies as needed by State agencies. Serves as cashier in receiving payments for delinquent taxes and issuing receipts. Assists with the input of monthly tax collections reports. Balances various county checking accounts and files cancelled checks Files tax claim notices in the appropriate locations. Maintains inventory of Supply Room goods; Collects and deposits money and checks; Answers general correspondence and telephone inquiries; Performs a wide variety of clerical account-keeping tasks; Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the ability to record, convey, and present information, explain procedures, and follow instructions; Must be able to sit for long periods of time with frequent periods of standing, walking, and occasional twisting, reaching, pulling, and pushing required for obtaining files, doing inspections or other job duties; Dexterity requirements range from simple to complex movements of fingers/hands, legs/feet, or torso to carry out job duties; Sedentary work with occasional lifting, 15-20 pounds; Must be able to pay close attention to detail and concentrate on work.
REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and
ABILITIES
Good knowledge of modern account-keeping practices; some knowledge of professional accounting practices; ability to follow complex oral and written directions and to prepare complex fiscal reports; some knowledge of the principles underlying State and County laws and regulations pertaining to County government; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; initiative; integrity. Completion of a high school diploma or GED equivalency. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and
TRAINING
Considerable experience as an account clerk, some of which shall have involved the performance of moderately difficult clerical tasks at the level of Account Clerk I. Completion of a standard high school course, preferably supplemented by business school or college courses in accounting; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

$15.15 per hour
