Accounting Assistant Monday

From our world famous Vanilla Extract, to our unique Cinnamon and Black Pepper, The Watkins Company continues to be innovative in categories including but not limited to Extracts, Spices, Dry Seasoning Mixes, Bitters, and Baking Decorations. Today, we are seeking a new member to join the fastest growing flavoring company in North America. The Watkins Company is excited to announce the opening for a full time, Accounting Assistant located in Winona, MN. The duties and responsibilities of the Accounting Assistant include, but are not limited to the following: Processes cash receipts applied on account, including applying payments to appropriate invoices and entering deductions. Performs accounts receivable collection functions by providing account balances or past due notifications, as required, through portals, phone, mail, or email. Processes A/R refunds, retail chargebacks, promotions and/or allowances by working with the Retail Sales team and/or Staff Accountant to understand and correct outstanding amounts. Scans retail, cost accounting, and other documents into accounting systems. Analyzes accounts receivable aging reports and provides feedback on customer balances. Assists in the preparation of tax returns per state requirements. Accepts direction and feedback with a positive attitude through appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Provides backup support and assistance within department as needed. Our ideal candidate will at minimum: Possess at minimum an Associates degree in business or other business degree or demonstrate sufficient experience; Bachelors
  • degree preferred. Minimum 6 months plus experience working in accounting, preferably in accounts receivable. Demonstrates intermediate (or higher) proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of sales tax rules and application
  • preferred.
