AR/VR Immersive Technology Coach - Youth Nature + Tech Program Life On Purpose Detroit Ferndale, MI Job Details Contract From $20 an hour 12 hours ago Qualifications Project planning Application development Presentation creation 3D modeling Leadership Full Job Description AR/VR Immersive Technology Coach - Youth Nature +
Tech ProgramRare Opportunity:
Youth-Led AR/VR Project Connected to North America's Only International Wildlife Refuge Life on Purpose Detroit is accepting applications and brief proposals from an AR/VR Specialist, Augmented Reality Expert, Virtual Reality Developer, 360 Media Creator, Immersive Technology Consultant, Gaming/3D Modeling Professional, or App Development Professional to support a powerful youth-led Nature + Tech project for our Summer Youth Leadership & Career Pathways Program. Through Life on Purpose Detroit's partnership with the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge , youth will have a rare opportunity to create and explore immersive technology connected to North America's only international wildlife refuge , a federally protected conservation space located in Trenton, Michigan. This project is led and contracted by Life on Purpose Detroit , not the federal government or U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Selected contractors will work directly with Life on Purpose Detroit and follow all youth safety, media, confidentiality, technology, equipment, and partner-site guidelines. This AR/VR project was initiated by last year's youth . They wanted to find a way to bring the beauty, peace, and experience of the Wildlife Refuge to people who may not be able to enjoy it in person — including children in hospitals, seniors in care centers, individuals with disabilities, and others who may face barriers to accessing nature. Their idea came from their own lives, experiences, and understanding of what it feels like when access is limited.
They asked a powerful question:
What if technology could help someone feel connected to nature, even if they cannot physically be there? Life on Purpose Detroit has already invested in equipment to support this vision, including an Apple Vision Pro, Oculus/Meta Quest equipment, and a 360 camera . Now we are looking for the right expert to help guide youth in taking the next step. This is a youth-led, coach-supported project . The selected contractor will not be expected to build everything alone. The goal is to guide youth as they explore
AR/VR, 360
content, immersive storytelling, accessibility, conservation, and future app development possibilities. We understand this project will happen in phases. In six weeks, we prototype concept, demo plan, storyboard, youth-led pitch, and showcase-ready presentation help Life on Purpose Detroit continue the project after summer. If you are passionate about immersive technology, accessibility, conservation, youth innovation, and building something meaningful from the ground up, we want to hear from you. About the Summer Program Life on Purpose Detroit's Summer Youth Leadership & Career Pathways Program is a paid summer experience that blends nature, technology, leadership, career readiness, entrepreneurship, conservation, storytelling, and purpose development . Youth participate in workshops, guest speaker sessions, hands-on projects, nature-based learning, and career pathway experiences designed to build confidence, communication, professionalism, and leadership. The program helps youth understand that their creativity, voice, and purpose can make an impact in their community and the world. About the Project Youth will explore questions such as: How can AR/VR help people experience nature in a new way? How can immersive technology support accessibility, conservation, and education? How can youth use technology to tell the story of the Refuge? How can this project grow beyond the summer into a larger Nature + Tech model? What would it take to eventually build an app or immersive experience for other youth, hospitals, senior centers, schools, or refuges? The selected contractor will help guide youth through the creative and technical process while working with Life on Purpose Detroit Directors, Coaches, Junior Coaches, Cyber/Compliance Team, and program partners. Existing Equipment / Tools Life on Purpose Detroit has already purchased several tools to support this project, including: Apple Vision Pro Oculus / Meta Quest equipment 360 camera Microphones Media and content creation tools The selected contractor may help assess what is realistic for the summer and recommend how to use the equipment in a safe, organized, and youth-friendly way. Key Responsibilities Help youth understand
