Same systems. Same monthly reporting cycle. Same promises of "supportive environment". What actually changes the experience is the size and tone of the firm you're sitting inside. This is a small boutique CPA practice, around eight people, and it very much operates on that scale on purpose. Simple structure, client-focused delivery, and a working style that prioritises flexibility over formality. The role itself sits firmly in bookkeeping rather than technical tax or audit. You'll be handling monthly financial reporting, payroll, and day-to-day accounts work for a varied client base, so there's enough variety to keep things interesting, but without drifting into highly complex technical territory. It's also not a "back office" position. You'll be client-facing, speaking directly with clients on a regular basis and explaining financial information in a way that's clear, practical, and easy to understand. So being comfortable on the phone and confident in communication is genuinely important here. During busy periods, there may be some light tax preparation work depending on your experience and how you want to develop, but the core of the role remains bookkeeping-led.
