Non-Exempt ArtStream Inc. is currently looking for a part-time Bookkeeper. This position may grow into General Manager in the coming season(s). Organization & Job Summary :
ArtStream is a nonprofit that provides performing arts opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area. ArtStream is currently in an innovation and growth phase, ideal candidates are able to flourish in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Manage accounts payable by validating and uploading vendor invoices to Bill.com, ensuring accurate classification of expenses. Oversee receivables by generating and sending invoices for students and partner programs, tracking payments, and ensuring timely revenue collection. Track donor pledges and deposits using platforms like Bloomerang and Stripe, ensuring accurate reporting. Process bi-weekly payroll and reimbursements, maintaining documentation for employee-related expenses for month-end closeout. Maintain accurate and compliant financial records, including documentation of transactions, grants, invoices, and program expenses, aligned with organizational and non-profit standards. Support the CPA in the monthly closeout process by completing tasks such as uploading statements, preparing transactions, and resolving discrepancies promptly. Collaborate with an accounting firm to prepare for the annual audit and IRS Form 990 filing. Ensure compliance with GAAP in all accounting practices. Monitor budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and programmatic outcomes. Develop and implement systems for tying financial metrics to program outcomes, helping demonstrate mission-driven results. Coordinate and guide participant families in third-party payment options and facilitate third-party processes and receivables.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years' experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in a non-profit organization Knowledge of QuickBooks online and basic accounting procedures Knowledge of DIVVY and BILL a plus Attention to detail and highly organized Associates degree or higher preferred Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and effectively Ability to work independently, as well as with others in a wide variety of circumstances and with a diverse group of individuals Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check (following a conditional offer of employment) Possess compassion and the ability to work effectively with people of all abilities, as well as their families and support networks
Work Environment :
Some local travel is required. Hybrid position.
Compensation :
25-30 hours at $26-$30 per hour; pay is commensurate with experience. Benefits include hourly PTO accumulation and schedule flexibility. ArtStream is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer
