Full Charge Bookkeeper Full-time • NYC - Hybrid
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a growing apparel import company based in New York City, sourcing and distributing denim and sportswear across domestic and international markets. We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper to own our entire accounting function. You'll work closely with ownership and report directly to the company principals.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Accounts Payable & Receivable Manage full AP/AR cycle including vendor invoices, customer billing, and collections Process payments to overseas suppliers and track purchase orders in USD Reconcile vendor statements and resolve issues with overseas factories and freight agents Liaise with the factor regarding monthly assigned sales General Ledger & Reporting Maintain and reconcile the general ledger; post journal entries and adjustments Perform month-end and year-end close processes Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for ownership Track landed cost calculations including duties, freight, and customs fees Payroll & HR Administration Process biweekly payroll Maintain employee records and assist with onboarding paperwork Import & Trade Compliance Support Coordinate with customs brokers to record and reconcile import entries and duties Maintain records of letter of credit transactions and wire transfers to vendors Track inventory costs across multiple SKUs and shipping containers Tax & Compliance Coordinate closely with the company's external CPA on sales tax, annual tax filings, and audit support Organize and maintain financial records and supporting documentation to facilitate CPA review and filing
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
7+ years of full-charge bookkeeping or full-cycle accounting experience Experience in apparel, fashion, wholesale, or import/export industries strongly preferred Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or Desktop (certification a plus) Experience using ERP systems to manage inventory and financial reporting Familiarity with Blue Cherry ERP software — a strong plus Familiarity with multi-currency transactions and foreign vendor payment Working knowledge of landed cost accounting and inventory tracking Strong command of NYC and NY State payroll tax requirements Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred High degree of accuracy, self-direction, and comfort working in a small team environment Comfortable working collaboratively with an outside CPA firm on tax and compliance matters
