$23.00 per hour Position Summary Newport Country Club is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Part-Time Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day financial and administrative operations of the Club. This role is ideal for a dependable professional with bookkeeping experience and takes pride in accuracy, confidentiality, and member service. The Bookkeeper works closely with Club leadership to ensure financial records are current, payables are processed accurately, and administrative functions run smoothly throughout the season. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable & Financial Records Enter vendor invoices and payables into accounting software accurately and on a timely basis Reconcile accounts payable records and assist with monthly close activities Maintain organized filing systems for all financial documents, invoices, and receipts Support preparation of financial reports and summaries as requested by Club leadership Daily Operations & Reconciliation Perform daily utilization reconciliation to ensure accuracy of member activity records Maintain and update member databases, ensuring records are current and complete Process and sort incoming mail; distribute and log correspondence as appropriate Answer and direct incoming phone calls and emails in a professional manner Document Management & Office Support Manage document lifecycle including organizing, filing, and secure shredding of records Maintain and organize an efficient file system for financial and administrative records Provide general administrative support to the Finance and Operations team as needed Collaboration & Communication Partner closely with the Office Manager to coordinate Membership and Department Head requests, vendor communication, accounts receivable, and overall office organization Serve as a professional point of contact for incoming phone calls and email correspondence Multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail Qualifications Required 2+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or related financial administrative experience Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data entry and record-keeping Ability to handle confidential financial and member information with discretion Reliable and punctual with the ability to maintain a consistent part-time schedule Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) Ability to reliably commute to Newport, RI 02840 Preferred Experience in a private club, hospitality, or membership-based organization Familiarity with member management or club management software Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field Key Skills Oral communication and professional phone etiquette Light bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable Handling confidential information with discretion Microsoft Office Suite, with proficiency in Excel Organizational skills and ability to maintain and manage a structured file system Ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities Working Conditions This position is performed primarily in an office environment at Newport Country Club. Occasional light physical activity, including transporting materials, may be required. The role requires a professional demeanor appropriate to the Club's standards and culture.
