Assistant Bookkeeper First United Methodist Church Denton Denton, TX Job Details Part-time $22 - $26 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Sage Teamwork Financial records management Financial concepts QuickBooks Full Job Description We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and energetic Part-Time Payroll and Bookkeeping Assistant to join our team on-site for approximately 20 hours per week. In this role, you will practice stewardship of our church's resources and directly support our congregants. Working closely with our financial leadership, you will play a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial records, managing donations, and ensuring smooth daily operations within a collaborative, supportive environment. This position is a wonderful opportunity to use your administrative and accounting skills to make a meaningful impact in our community. Key Responsibilities Process timesheets and payroll accurately and on time, ensuring our staff is supported. Process payables and record transactions within Realm software, with a meticulous focus on budget-to-fund allocation. Manage accounts receivable within Realm, ensuring all incoming payments, pledges, and donations are accurately recorded, reconciled, and allocated to the correct designated ministry funds. Handle essential bank transactions, including cash and check deposits, positive pay management, and initiating ACH transactions. Update and maintain accurate congregant account information and respond graciously to inquiries related to accounts and financial matters. Perform general bookkeeping tasks, support account reconciliation, and maintain detailed documentation to ensure total financial transparency and accuracy. Experience & Qualifications Prior experience with bookkeeping, payroll, or accounting roles. Non-profit or faith-based accounting experience is highly preferred. Familiarity with church management and accounting software (specifically Realm) is a significant plus; proficiency with QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms is also valued. A strong understanding of financial concepts. A deep commitment to maintaining absolute confidentiality, precision, and financial integrity. Excellent communication skills to interface beautifully with staff and congregants alike.
