# 18-26 All correspondence must refer to a specific job number The Financial Assistant I/Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Controller by performing a variety of financial and accounting duties, with primary responsibility for the administration and monitoring of the Bank's time and attendance and payroll processes, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain the time and attendance and payroll process in accordance with Finance policies and internal controls. Verify that all supplemental payroll requests are properly documented and supported by approved Compensation Committee authorization. Review employee time and attendance records to ensure timely submission, appropriate supervisory approval. Monitor, update, and maintain employee paid leave accruals withing the payroll system. Gather, calculate payroll data, and prepare a variety of payroll related reports for management; ensuring reports are accurate, complete, and prepared on schedule. Serve as designated backup for Accounts Payable functions. Perform weekly, and monthly reviews and reconciliations of designated general ledger accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner and documenting corrective actions. Review the American Express card statement details with the associated cardholder expense reports, verify supporting documentation and authorized approvals is obtained in accordance with Bank policy. Ensure timely record retention of payroll, time and attendance and related financial records. Assist Controller in ensuring accurate completion of related financial reports initiated by the Bank's data processor along with internal reports. Provide support to all assigned areas in the department as needed.Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Other special projects as required. Cross-train with other department personnel; assumes responsibility for various department functions in the absence of staff members or in overload situations. Will perform other duties associated with the Bank's general ledger accountants.Job Requirements:
Education:
Associated Degree in Accounting preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum Experience:
2 years of general ledger banking or industry experience; financial accounting and/or related background preferred.Skills and Abilities Required :
General banking experience, methods, and procedures related to bank account or general ledger reconciliation. Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; word processing and spreadsheet and software programs. Effective communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, prepare reports, and speak clearly to customers and employees. Effective organizational and time management skills.
