Job Description
SUMMARY:
We are a successful, fast growing Insurance Agency in McAllen looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to oversee general accounting operations and complement our small, but outstanding team. The ideal candidate will be a self driven, independent thinker and problem solver that works with minimal supervision. This candidate will have a high attention to detail, possess great communication skills, both written and oral, and be willing to jump in, roll up their sleeves and get the job done. We do require this candidate to have Quickbooks knowledge, while there will be specific responsibilities as described below, there will also be times when the candidate will be asked to do other tasks. To succeed in this role, the candidate must be willing to be flexible and open to new tasks and be comfortable multitasking in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. It is essential that this candidate bring analytical and organizational skills in order to best support the accounting team.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with the CEO and Administrative Manager to understand and ensure accuracy of all financial reporting activity including monthly, quarterly and annual statements
- Preparation and reconciliation of General Ledger, AP, AR , financial statements and regulatory filings
- Daily collection and reconciliations of sales premium and commission payments
- Develop innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness Required Skills and Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting
- Quickbooks knowledge
- Advanced Excel Skills Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred, not required.
- P&C Insurance Accounting Experience, Preferred, not required
- Familiarity with 1099 and Tax Processes
- Ability to adhere to established workflows that allow for balancing of changing priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Attention to detail.
- Good judgement
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service skills with a positive attitude
- Analytical and comprehension skills
- Proficient in using MS Suite (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
