This position performs a variety of accounting and administrative functions in support of regional operations. Typical responsibilities include payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable, travel funds, audit research, and related accounting activities. 5/31/2026 Key Responsibilities As an Accounting Tech III, you will: Prepare and process payroll, billings, disbursements, and related documentation. Review invoices, warrants, and other financial documents for accuracy and completeness. Process accounts payable transactions. Assist with inventory related functions. Prepare reports and perform data and account adjustments as needed. Receive, research, and respond to inquiries or complaints by explaining policies and procedures or facilitating resolution. Provide administrative and clerical support. Answer phones and provide front-desk customer service backup when required. Qualifications To be considered, you must have the following: Experience with payroll, accounts payable, inventory, and bookkeeping procedures. Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as Google Workspace applications (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail, etc.). Strong customer service and communication skills. Preferences Preference may be given to applicants who have at least one of the following: Prior collections experience, including account follow-up, negotiating payment arrangements, and customer account reconciliation. Experience processing payroll. Experience using Vantage (formerly FINET - the state of Utah's accounting system). Experience processing state travel. Current or previous UDOT or other State of Utah experience. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities To be successful, the following are essential: Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and automated accounting systems Ability to review financial and administrative documents for accuracy and completeness Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Workspace, and Adobe applications Ability to compile, audit, verify, and process financial or administrative data Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing Ability to provide customer service with tact, sensitivity, and professionalism
