POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting & HR Coordinator is a key operational role responsible for the full scope of day-to-day accounting functions alongside core HR and payroll responsibilities. This is not a traditional bookkeeping role
  • the right candidate will be comfortable owning financial recordkeeping, processing weekly payroll, supporting benefits administration, and assisting with seasonal hiring, all within a close-knit team environment.
Experience with Sage 100 and an understanding of retail and direct-to-consumer business models is a strong advantage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting & Finance Maintain accurate financial records and perform daily data entry Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor invoices and customer payments Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts monthly Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with budget tracking Assist with inventory management reconciliation across retail, catalog, and online channels Support the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors Payroll Process weekly payroll accurately and on time for all employees Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal and Vermont state requirements Manage payroll adjustments, garnishments, and year-end W-2 processing HR Administration Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance and retirement accounts Support seasonal hiring cycles — from job postings through onboarding Maintain employee records and ensure HR documentation is current and compliant Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to pay, benefits, and HR policies
QUALIFICATIONS
Required 4-5 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a combined accounting/HR role Hands-on experience processing payroll (weekly payroll experience strongly preferred) Experience using ADP payroll and human resources software is required Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel Experience with Vermont sales tax filing and compliance is required. Proficiency with accounting software
  • experience with Sage 100 is a significant plus Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial recordkeeping Ability to manage multiple priorities in a seasonal, fast-paced environment Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential employee and financial information Preferred Experience in a retail, e-commerce, or direct-to-consumer business Familiarity with Vermont employment regulations and payroll compliance Prior exposure to benefits administration, including retirement plan coordination Experience supporting or participating in an annual financial audit
