Job Description
Description Robert Half is recruiting for an interim Budget Analyst/ Consultant for our client in the City Government and public sector industry. The interim Budget Analyst will support budget development, forecasting, and fiscal analysis for a public sector organization. This role will be located onsite in Downey, CA. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze cash flow and monitor advance expenditures to ensure budget compliance
- Conduct financial analyses to determine estimated property valuations, state special allowances, and apportionments
- Evaluate fiscal solvency of programs and funding sources
- Prepare and process budget adjustments, transfers, and recommendations
- Develop annual budgets and multi-year forecasts
- Create financial summaries, graphs, and charts to clearly communicate budget data
- Prepare budget reports and presentations for leadership, boards, or committees
- Support budget monitoring and financial reporting in accordance with
- GASB requirements
- Qualifications
- Prior budget or financial analysis experience in a city/county department
- Strong working knowledge of GASB standards and public fund accounting
- Experience with government budgeting, forecasting, and fiscal analysis
- Advanced Excel skills; experience creating charts, summaries, and reports
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in budget or financial analysis within a city or county department.
- Proficiency in government budgeting processes, forecasting, and fiscal analysis.
- Strong knowledge of public fund accounting standards, including GASB.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to create charts and detailed reports.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Clear and effective communication and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with annual budget preparation and management processes.
- Previous experience in preparing and delivering financial reports to boards or committees.
