Description Robert Half is recruiting for an interim Budget Analyst/ Consultant for our client in the City Government and public sector industry. The interim Budget Analyst will support budget development, forecasting, and fiscal analysis for a public sector organization. This role will be located onsite in Downey, CA. Key Responsibilities
Analyze cash flow and monitor advance expenditures to ensure budget compliance
Conduct financial analyses to determine estimated property valuations, state special allowances, and apportionments
Evaluate fiscal solvency of programs and funding sources
Prepare and process budget adjustments, transfers, and recommendations
Develop annual budgets and multi-year forecasts
Create financial summaries, graphs, and charts to clearly communicate budget data
Prepare budget reports and presentations for leadership, boards, or committees
Support budget monitoring and financial reporting in accordance with
GASB requirements
Qualifications
Prior budget or financial analysis experience in a city/county department
Strong working knowledge of GASB standards and public fund accounting
Experience with government budgeting, forecasting, and fiscal analysis
Advanced Excel skills; experience creating charts, summaries, and reports
Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of experience in budget or financial analysis within a city or county department.
Proficiency in government budgeting processes, forecasting, and fiscal analysis.
Strong knowledge of public fund accounting standards, including GASB.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to create charts and detailed reports.
Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Clear and effective communication and presentation skills.
Familiarity with annual budget preparation and management processes.
Previous experience in preparing and delivering financial reports to boards or committees.
