Department Summary The UCLA Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology pioneers research on evolution, ecosystems, and species behavior, seamlessly linking basic science with practical challenges. It offers a hands-on, interdisciplinary learning environment that emphasizes fieldwork, innovative lab studies, and collaboration on issues like conservation and climate change-all while honoring the cultural heritage of its community. Position Summary Manage all purchasing and related functions for the operating and sponsored research awards for approximately 32 Principal Investigators (PIs) as well as for sales and service under the Biology Group's purview. Reconcile ledgers, prepare accounting forms, and post service unit recharges. Salary & Compensation •UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Demonstrated knowledge of procurement practices, electronic purchasing, e-commerce, and industry-standard purchasing/accounts payable systems; university system experience preferred. (Required) 2. Strong financial and accounting skills, including account reconciliation, balancing ledgers, correcting accounting errors, and preparing timely financial adjustments and reports. (Required) 3. Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and administrative data from multiple sources and generate accurate, timely reports using spreadsheet, database, and management information systems. (Required) 4. Proficiency in word processing, editing, spreadsheet, database, and web-based software applications. (Required) 5. Demonstrated ability to initiate and process travel reimbursements accurately and efficiently. (Required) 6. Strong organizational and administrative skills, including managing logistical processes, prioritizing multiple assignments, and meeting deadlines with accuracy and timeliness. (Required) 7. Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise, logical, and grammatically correct business correspondence and analyses. (Required) 8. Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex financial and administrative information to diverse individuals and groups at all organizational levels. (Required) 9. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with faculty, students, administrators, vendors, sales representatives, and other stakeholders. (Required) 10. Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and initiative, and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
