Job Description

Assist in the preparation and monitoring of multiple annual Public Health budgets. Monitor, report, and assist the Public Health divisions with budgets, budget tracking, and budget issues. Provides assistance in planning, developing and evaluating multiple Public Health budgets and expenditures. Evaluates departmental and divisional budget requests as to necessity. Monitors and controls Public Health Preparedness expenditures against budgeted amounts. Estimates costs and forecasts revenues and expenditures for multiple Public Health budgets. May analyze accounting data to determine amount of funds required to implement programs. Prepares departmental, divisional, and grant reports/analysis on a periodic basis. May assist in implementation enhancements to the department budget system and processes to improve efficiency. Supervises the Fiscal Services Administrative Assistant II position. May supervise administrative, accounting, and financial staff in completion of related duties. Reviews contracts for budgetary compliance. Performs special projects. Performs other related duties involved in the operation of the department as assigned or required. Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or related field such as accounting. Two (2) years of related accounting, budgeting, or governmental experience, preferably in local government finance or public administration. Must have excellent knowledge of cost accounting and budgeting principles and practices. Must have advanced communication and presentation skills. Must have advanced spreadsheet and word processing software experience.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to bend, carry, climb stairs, grasp/squeeze, hear, keyboard, kneel, lift below the waist, lift between waist and shoulder, lift overhead, lift to the side/twist, tolerate noise, pull, push, reach, reach overhead, perform repetitive tasks, see color, see far and near, sit, squat, stand, stoop, talk, twist, use his/her hands, drive a vehicle, walk, work alone and with others, and work overtime.
