Job Description

We are looking for an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to provide both executive-level direction and active day-to-day leadership for the finance function in Salinas, California. This position calls for a hands-on leader who can shape long-range financial strategy, strengthen operational performance, and support sound decision-making across a complex, mission-focused organization. The ideal candidate brings experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or similarly purpose-driven settings and is comfortable leading sizable budgets, developing teams, and maintaining financial stability during a period of immediate organizational need.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct the full scope of financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, effective controls, and dependable support for organizational leadership.
  • Partner with executive stakeholders to develop financial plans, guide budgeting priorities, and align fiscal strategy with organizational goals.
  • Evaluate financial performance through analysis, forecasting, and scenario planning to identify risks, opportunities, and operational improvements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a finance team of approximately 10 direct reports, with close oversight of the Controller function.
  • Maintain strong day-to-day finance management while contributing to high-level executive decisions and long-term business planning.
  • Support the organization through urgent leadership needs by providing stability, accountability, and continuity across financial activities.
  • Oversee complex budgeting environments, including funding structures common to healthcare, nonprofit, or other mission-driven organizations.
  • Contribute to finance systems improvement efforts, including potential platform implementation or transition initiatives, and help optimize related processes.
