POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a seasoned and motivated Controller/CFO to join our accounting team in Fort Myers, FL. As the leader of the accounting department, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of Stevens Construction, its subsidiaries, and related companies. Your success will be predicated upon your ability to inspire and develop your team, converting data into actionable information and providing exceptional customer service throughout the organization. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall fiscal functions of the company, overseeing internal and external accounting operations including compliance, financial controls, forecasts, reports, treasury, tax, and other accounting procedures. You will be the architect of financial processes, creating an environment of continuous improvement to support the evolution of the business. Collaborating with the Executive Leadership Team, you will support organizational transformation, maximize financial performance, and protect company assets in alignment with Stevens Construction's overall purpose, vision, and strategy. The ideal candidate will be a leader who can ensure financial excellence while fostering a culture of high performance and exceptional service within the accounting department.
Key Responsibilities Accounting Leadership:
Lead and develop the accounting team, being accountable for their performance, development, and support of our business Inspire team members through words and actions, empowering them to deliver high-quality results Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to team members Assist with setting department objectives, prioritizing initiatives, and identifying key performance indicators Create an environment that supports continuous improvement and business evolution
Accounting Management:
Oversee and support day-to-day accounting activities of the business Be accountable for accounting systems and processes, ensuring appropriate internal controls, streamlined operations, and data conversion into valuable insights Centralize and standardize transaction processing by setting guidelines and clear deliverables Focus on how accounting systems impact operations teams as a systems-driven thinker
Financial Reporting:
Ensure reliability and timeliness of company financials and supplementary reports Align financial data obtainment with the company's financial close schedule Turn monthly data into actionable information, delivering to key stakeholders by the 15th of the following month Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and accurate reflection of operations in financial reports Understand and communicate drivers of financial results to critical stakeholders Be keenly aware of project forecasting and financial status reporting to support operational efforts efficiently
Tax Activities & Project Audits:
Assist operations personnel on project audits by reviewing requests and providing relevant data Be accountable for all tax reporting and filing activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory authorities Leverage team to compile and deliver data, teaching them the purpose and skills
Treasury Management:
Monitor and proactively manage cash balances and working capital Maintain a cash forecasting tool to predict future cash impacts from current business decisions
Customer Service:
Create a "how can the accounting department serve you" mentality in your team Treat all employees seeking accounting assistance with care Extend customer service to third-party partners and external customers Understands his/her contribution to achieving the five-year strategic plan and the annual plan. Understands and operates under the company's SOP's at all times. Other duties as assigned.
