Job Description

Iowa Department of Education's mission is ensuring all students experience a world-class education. The Executive Officer 1 will be an integral member of the Office of the Director and Office of Operations and Initiatives.
Your Responsibilities:
Provide executive assistance and high-level operational, analytical, and project support to the Deputy Director/Chief of Staff, Deputy Director/Chief Operational Officer, and Chief Financial Officer. Coordinate executive workflows, synthesize information for decision-making, and support cross divisional initiatives while ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and timely execution. Serve as a central liaison across divisions, government entities, and external stakeholders to advance agency priorities and organizational effectiveness. As part of the role of supporting the Chief of Staff/Deputy Director, manage and monitor all functions of the State Board of Education. Act as the liaison between the State Board and the Department, coordinating the planning, implementation and follow-up for all Board meetings. Develop State Board meeting agendas; work with the Director and staff of the Department to prepare meeting materials that provide the Board with the information they need for quality decision-making. Attend all Board meetings and write official minutes and board briefs. Follow-up on board meeting activities as necessary. Maintain State Board's master calendar, ensuring attention to statutory responsibilities and policy priorities. Maintain communication with the Board President and Board members related to meetings. Upon request, prepare documents for the President of the State Board pertaining to State Board business. Respond to individual Board member inquiries. Manage special organizational projects. This includes coordinating with state agencies such as DAS, the Iowa Communications Network (ICN), and Iowa Prison Industries (IPI) on space planning to increase efficiency and effectiveness and coordinating with state agencies such as the Department of Management/Division of Information Technology (DOM/DoIT) on projects that resolve processing issues and improve productivity, including working closely with DoIT staff for video conferencing. Collaborate with receptionist on facility issues the need to be reported. Hours:

One year of full-time professional-level work experience in program administration, program development, program operations, or management; and b. A total of four years of education and full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience; and c. A total of two years of graduate-level education and full-time experience (as described in part a), where twenty-four semester hours of accredited graduate college or university course work in a public-service-related area (e.g., public or business administration, social work, public health, law, education, engineering) equals one year of full-time experience. Graduation from the Iowa Certified Public Manager Program is also equivalent to one year of full-time experience or education. 4) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes thirty months of fulltime work as a Program Planner (any level), Management Analyst (any level), or Administrative Assistant (any level).
