Job DescriptionJob Description Chief Financial Officer Job Summary:
The CFO serves as a member of the Executive Committee, and is a key participant in all aspects of the company's managerial, strategic and tactical activities. The primary focuses are capital sourcing, capital reporting, project management, compliance, accounting/treasury and risk management.Duties/Responsibilities:
Accounting/Treasury/Tax Strategy & Planning:
Oversee the activities of the accounting department including management of personnel. Oversee the development and implementation of tax strategies. Oversee the process in place for the annual tax preparation and coordination with preparers. Advise ownership on appropriate tax strategies and implications of business decisions Review tax returns. Manage banking relationships and draws. Monitor and review bank activity and reconciliations. Oversee cash management. Review overhead and property budgets. Oversee the preparation and distribution of overhead budget variance reports. Oversee the prep and distribution of property reporting.Capital Sourcing:
Actively engage in fact-finding/trend identification. Focus on capital sources, interest rates, investment trends, and project opportunities.Capital Reporting & Administration:
Review/modify standard equity reporting package. Confirm required items for debt reporting. Monitor and oversee reporting process. Manage banking relationships and draws. Manage lender and equity source relationships. Serve as primary resource for capital sources. Delegate and/or perform individual tasks or recurring items as appropriate. Coordinate with accounting/finance team to produce timely reports to investors. Coordinate responses and delegate tasks for unplanned questions and problems that arise in capital relationships.Project Analysis:
Develop/review pro forma on new projects as needed. Provide input on project feasibility and strategy. Monitor time carefully and alert affected people of impact if need exceeds available time.Organizational Management:
Provide input and direction related to organizational strategy. Oversee the acquisition and development of enterprise software systems necessary to support the overall operation of the company.Compliance/Audit:
Oversee activities of partnerships requiring GAAP reporting and subject to annual audit. Explore compliance, reporting requirements for potential deal structures where SEC regulations must be adhered to. Develop basic understanding of audit requirements necessary under workers' comp, state unemployment insurance, and general liability insurance policies as well as risk management, statutory, and other applicable audits. Advise on various audit matters as needed.Risk Management:
Oversee, bid, award & review property insurance program, and PMG professional coverages.Required Skills/Abilities:
Microsoft Suite Yardi experience a plus Ability to work under pressure. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational & prioritization skills. Must be able to multi-task and be detailed oriented. Willingness to lead as well as learn. Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance CPA Preferred At least 10 years of CFO/Controller experience in Real Estate required.
